EPILOGUE

La tâche était ici de donner une idée de ce qui se fait et peut se faire dans le cadre encore incertain d’une science de l’esprit. Les critiques faites à ces programmes de recherche ne manquent pas; on leur reproche leur naïveté philosophique, leur positivisme, leur empirisme, leur scientisme, leur cartésianisme, leur kantisme, leur ambition démesurée, leur étroitesse d’esprit, leurs résultats fragiles, leurs promesses non tenues, leur réductionnisme, leur faiblesse formelle, leur formalisme, leurs divisions, leurs manifestes unitaires, et bien d’autres choses encore. Parmi ces critiques, aucune, faut-il le préciser, n’est concluante. Elles sont souvent instructives, et aident les chercheurs à remédier à certaines faiblesses. Ils sont du reste souvent eux-mêmes leurs critiques les plus lucides.

Il est anticipé que l’ intelligence artificielle peut avoir un impact important pour les sciences sociales.Les reseaux neuronaux materialisent une possibilité nouvelle pour le calcul(au sens large) et l’ exploitation des données.Ils permettent la discrimination de celles-ci et,pour la premiére fois,des predictions d’une exactitutde surprenante.
